Friends of Lucas Park is comprised of Downtown residents working to improve and beautify our
neighborhood park. We had a very successful 2012 with the installation of a new playground as well
as sod and some landscaping. In 2013 we completed the installation of a new sprinkler system, planted
landscaping throughout the park and installed fitness equipment for ages 5 and up! It was a busy 2 years
and now we are getting ready to open up the park for use. For more information please contact us at the email
on the side of the page. Thanks for checking out Friends of Lucas Park!

Time to Celebrate

One year ago tomorrow over one hundred volunteers gathered in Lucas Park to do something amazing. On that day a park was transformed and has become much more than a playground. It has become a meeting place for parents and a backyard to all of downtown. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated their time and money to bringing this much needed change to our neighborhood. Downtown St. Louis, join us to celebrate this morning from 10am-12pm. We will have face painting with Kristen from Thirteenth and Washington, story time with Miss Jonesey from Left Bank Books, games with the Downtown St. Louis YMCA, and of course snacks!

If you haven't yet check out our 2012 year in review to see this amazing transformation.

Final Improvements Underway

Our final phase of improvements is currently underway.  The last bit of grading is being done before grass seed goes down.  We ask that you please stay off the newly seeded areas to allow grass to grow.  Once this grass is established next Spring, the fences will come down!

The Lucas Park playground is turning one!
Join us on Saturday Sept. 7th from 10am-12pm.

Blondie's Results

Last night we had a great turnout for the Blondie's Neighbors' Night Out.  Thank you to everyone who made it out and a big thank you to Blondie's for your very generous donation.  We were able to raise $500 which put us over our fitness equipment fundraising goal!  Look for work to be continuing in the park in preparation for the fitness equipment with the install coming mid June.  We hope to have it open and ready for your use by the end of June, weather permitting.

Friends of Lucas Park just received word that we are the recipient of another Let's Play Dr Pepper Snapple Group grant through KaBOOM!  This time for new fitness equipment.  This equipment will replace the old playground on the west side of the park and is suitable for ages 5 and up.  We are very excited to have something new for every age range in Lucas Park.  We hope to have the fitness equipment installed and ready for use early summer.  We will be offering free classes available for the public to get familiar with the new equipment.  You can help us raise the additional necessary funds to purchase this equipment by attending our monthly Neighbors' Night Out fundraisers.

In memory of Dr. Casimir 'Casey' Firlit

This tree was recently planted in Lucas Park in memory of Dr. Casimir ‘Casey’ Firlit, a fellow downtown resident and one who dedicated his life to helping children with complex problems become healthy and happy. This tree, located opposite the new playground, will provide shade from the afternoon sun and will stand as a symbol of his life long commitment to serving and protecting children.
